Tirupati Police Arrest 7 for Indecent Dances at Ganesh Celebration

Tirupati: Police have taken action against inappropriate performances during the Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations in Tirupati, arresting seven organisers for allegedly permitting indecent dances. The issue came to light after videos of provocative dances performed by young men and women at a Ganesh mandap in Saptagiri Nagar circulated on social media.

District superintendent of police (SP) L. Subba Rayudu condemned the incident, stating, "Tirupati is a holy pilgrimage site. We will not tolerate obscene performances here. Those who violate rules will face severe consequences under the law."

Following the SP’s orders, Tirupati DSP Venkata Narayana supervised the operation, with Alipiri CI Ram Kishore leading the arrests. The detained organisers are J. Madhusudan Reddy, M. Rajendra Prasad, M. Vinod Kumar, G. Kiran Kumar, Jaswant Reddy, P. Vinay, and Hemant.

Police reports indicate the objectionable performances occurred on September 9 at around 9 PM, with organisers allegedly bringing women from outside for lewd dances before the Ganesh idol. Cases have been registered against the organisers. DSP Narayana warned of strict action against such misconduct during festivals.

Rayudu stressed that Vinayaka Chavithi should focus on devotion and spirituality and announced increased surveillance at Ganesh mandaps to prevent similar incidents.
