Tirupati: Red sanders force arrest 14 with axes, saws

Tirupati: Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) arrested 14 individuals for trespassing into a restricted forest area near Yerpedu in Tirupati district on Monday. The task force seized from the accused axes and saws they brought in two vehicles.

An RSASTF team led by RSIs K. Suresh Kumar Reddy and Lingadhar undertook checking operations on instructions of Tirupati district SP L. Subba Rayudu and under supervision of Task Force SP P. Srinivas. DSPs G. Balireddy and V. Srinivasareddy guided the operation.
On Sunday night, the task force team started checking the Krishnapuram forest section. During the early hours of Monday near Chinthalapalem, they noticed a group of people standing beside an Innova and a Bolero van in the restricted forest area. The group members attempted to flee but the task force members apprehended them.
Upon inspection, the RSASTF team found iron bars, axes, saws and cooking equipment in their possession. Following this, the task force arrested all the 14 members of the group, 13 of whom are from Tamil Nadu.
Tirupati Task Force Police Station circle inspector Suresh Kumar registered a case against the accused and has started an investigation. RSASTF officials confirmed that the intruders are involved in smuggling of red sanders.
