A devastating incident occurred in Machavaram, Vijayawada, on Tuesday when a rockfall resulted in the death of one worker and injuries to two others.
The incident took place at a house located near the mountain, where four laborers were engaged in cutting a tree.
According to the police, a large boulder dislodged from the mountainside and rolled down, striking the workers. Ekkada Ramu, 58, a resident of Gunadala, tragically lost his life in the incident.
The injured workers, Basuri Kamayya and Kalla Raju, were immediately taken to the new government general hospital for medical attention.
The Machavaram police responded swiftly to the scene, providing assistance to the injured and transporting the deceased body to the government hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Ram Mohan Rao visited the site to assess the situation and instructed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured.
It is important to note that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the region. In a previous incident near Sunnapu Battila Centre, five people lost their lives due to a similar rockfall.
