Tribal Body Protests Seeking Revocation of Pattas Given to Non-tribals
Visakhapatnam: Adivasi Girijana 5th Schedule Sadhana Committee, along with Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Workers Association, organised a protest at Ravikamatam MPDO office in Anakapalli district demanding restoration of land titles to tribals, which had been unjustly cancelled during the Jagananna Resurvey.
The protesters charged that after the resurvey classified these tribal plantations as government lands in the Detailed Land Records (DLR), the lands got unjustly allocated to non-tribals, politicians and real estate developers.
The protesters submitted a petition to the deputy tahsildar in this regard.
The tribal leaders said community members had submitted applications at the Kovvugunta revenue sadassu demanding cancellation of the land allotments and restoring them to their original tribal cultivators. They underlined that even after 50 days have elapsed, no decisive action has been taken on the matter, despite Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declaring that issues raised at the revenue sadassus will be resolved within 45 days.
On Monday, the tribal delegates met district collector Vijaya Krishnan at the Ravikamatam mandal MPDO office seeking an inquiry into the matter in the affected villages and restoration of the lands to the tribal families that had been cultivating these lands.
