TTD Board Plans Global Outreach for Sri Venkateswara Temples
Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board, chaired by B.R. Naidu, has approved the formation of a committee of experts to oversee the global expansion of TTD temples and properties, as instructed by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
In a meeting held on Tuesday at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala, the TTD Chairman outlined the first phase of expansion, focusing on identifying key domestic and international locations for temple construction. “The goal is to make TTD’s spiritual services available worldwide, fostering stronger cultural and spiritual connections,” Naidu said. The board also announced plans to build Sri Venkateswara Swamy temples in prominent locations across India.
Further decisions included urging the state government to seek national status for the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), which would enable central government funding for healthcare improvements. Measures to enhance medical services for pilgrims were also approved, including the recruitment of medical staff and the procurement of advanced equipment.
To improve food safety and hygiene, TTD will establish a Food Safety Department and hire a Senior Food Safety Officer. The trust also plans to introduce new systems for canteen management, ensuring high-quality, affordable food for pilgrims. Infrastructure projects, such as new toilet blocks and a Golden Gopura Kalasam in the Vontimitta Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple, were also greenlit.
