TTD celebrates 971st anniversary of Ananthalwar’s incarnation

On the occasion, successors of Ananthalwar from across the country gathered in Tirumala and rendered the "Nalayira Divya Prabandha Gosthiganam."

Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) celebrated the 971st incarnation anniversary of Sri Vaishnava devotee Ananthalwar at the Ananthalwar Thota in Tirumala on Sunday.

On the occasion, successors of Ananthalwar from across the country gathered in Tirumala and rendered the "Nalayira Divya Prabandha Gosthiganam."
Addressing the gathering, Tirumala Pedda Jeeyar Swamy highlighted the efforts of TTD’s Alwar Divya Prabandha, which invites eminent scholars from various Vaishnava Divyadesams every year. He pointed out that through such insightful lectures, the glory and contributions of Ananthalwar are conveyed in a meaningful manner to the people.
Tirumala Chinna Jeeyar Swamy explained that Ananthalwar had been the first disciple of Sri Ramanujacharya. When Ananthalwar subsequently visited Tirumala and offered flowers to Sri Venkateswara Swamy, the tradition of Pushpa Kainkaryam commented.
The Chinna Jeeyar informed the gathering that because of this Tirumala is also known as the Pushpa Matham.
The day featured discourses on various topics, including Venkatachala Itihasamala, Ramanuja Vari Tirumala Yatra, Swami Pushkarini Vaibhavam, Sri Ramayana Kalakshepam, Tirumala Nambi – Thanniramudhu Utsavam, Moolavarla Tirumanjanam – Tirunamam, Ramanuja Sannidhi Pratistha in Tirumala, Sahasranamarchana Vaibhavam, Establishment of Jeeyar Mutt, Srivari Suprabhatam, and the significance of Punya Tirthas in Tirumala.
Those present included successors of Ananthalwar Venkata Krishna Swamy and Bharadwaja Swamy.
