TTD EO Shyamala Rao Takes Charge
Tirupati:Assuming charge as Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Jamjam Syamala Rao IAS has vowed to streamline and enhance all aspects of pilgrim services at the abode of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala.
Rao took the ceremonial oath inside the Tirumala temple on Sunday after outgoing EO, AV Dharma Reddy handed over the charge. In his maiden press conference, the new EO affirmed his strong belief that "Duty is Divine" and that he was committed to executing all tasks with full accountability and transparency.
He said, "The chief minister has a clear vision to enhance the reputation of this world-famous pilgrimage centre. "I will work to improve the facilities for darshan, devotees’ accommodation, transportation, annaprasadam etc."
He said it was unclear why the previous administration did not post TTD trust board resolutions on the TTD website. All resolutions passed by the trust board will be made available to all online. “Every pilgrim has the right to know about every decision and resolution concerning the management of the temple trust.”
After taking charge, the EO inspected the darshan queue lines to get an on-ground assessment of the pilgrim amenities. He interacted with devotees for over three hours.
Expressing anger over the poor water quality and sanitation standards, he asked the TTD departments to urgently improve these. "Some devotees received food and water, but didn't get milk in certain areas. I've asked officials to immediately provide milk to the devotees waiting in queues and sheds," he stated.
