TTD to hold Purusaivari Thototsavam today

Tirupati: To commemorate the emergence of Sri Andal Goda Devi, believed to be an incarnation of Bhudevi, the authorities of TTD will celebrate the annual Purusaivari Thototsavam as part of the Sri Andal Ammavari Thiruvadipuram Sattumora in Tirumala on Wednesday.

During the evening procession, the utsava idols of Sri Malayappa Swami and His consorts, Sridevi and Sri Bhudevi, will visit Purusaivari Thota. Special rituals, including harati, garland offerings, and shatari, will be performed at the holy ‘Pogada’ tree, followed by abhishekam. The idols will then return to Srivari temple, concluding the ceremony. This tradition, organised by TTD, holds significant religious importance for devotees.

Jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh stolen in Nellore

Tirupati: Gold jewellery worth `20 lakh was stolen from a residence in JR Peta of Atmakur municipality in Nellore district in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident occurred while the homeowners, Padma Shekhar Reddy and Subhashini, were away. Upon returning, they discovered the missing valuables and immediately alerted the police. This incident is part of a larger crime wave, with 20 thefts reported across Sangam, Ananthasagaram, and Atmakur mandals in the past ten days. Locals accuse the police of negligence in patrolling. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a wine shop in Nellore's Akuthota area was robbed of nearly `4 lakh. Police have launched investigations into both cases.


Entrepreneurship training drive for women launched

Tirupati: A three-day entrepreneurship training programme for aspiring women entrepreneurs began at the Women's Complex in Tirupati on Tuesday. This initiative, a collaboration between the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), aims to empower women in business.

Farzana, the district manager of the Women's Complex, inaugurated the event, emphasising the importance of entrepreneurial skills and business management. R. Lokanath, District Skill Development Officer, introduced two key programmes: Generate Your Business (GYB) and Start Your Business (SYB), which will guide participants in obtaining permits and accessing various loan schemes.
N. Syam Mohan, Regional Skill Development Officer, outlined the training's focus on market analysis, project planning, and business regulations. Approximately 300 women are participating in the programme, benefiting from the expertise of trainers from both the ILO and APSSDC.
