Two IPL matches to be held in Visakhapatnam

Vizag boy to play on home ground

Visakhapatnam: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has announced its 2025 schedule, with Visakhapatnam's YSR ACA-VDCA Stadium set to host two thrilling matches. The Delhi Capitals will take on Lucknow Super Giants on March 24, followed by a clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 30.

The coastal city’s selection as a venue reinforces its connection with the IPL, having served as the second home ground for the Delhi Capitals in 2024. Visakhapatnam joins Guwahati and Dharamshala as one of three non-regular centres chosen for the upcoming season.

Last year marked Visakhapatnam’s return to IPL cricket after a five-year hiatus. The city hosted two memorable matches: Delhi Capitals versus Chennai Super Kings on March 31 and Delhi Capitals against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3. Both matches drew large crowds and generated significant enthusiasm among local cricket fans.

The upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad has sparked particular interest among Vizag residents, as it will feature local hero Nitish Kumar Reddy. The young cricketer, who recently made headlines with a century in Test cricket, will be playing his first IPL match on home soil since his debut, adding an extra layer of excitement to the fixture. The stadium management is yet to announce ticket prices and other match-day details.
