Two Vijayawada railway staff receive Man of Month April awards

Vijayawada: South Central Railway (SCR) general manager Arun Kumar Jain presented on Monday the General Manager’s Man of the Month safety awards for April 2024 to two employees of the Vijayawada division for being alert and taking timely action to prevent unsafe conditions.

The awardees are B. Subrahmanyam, Technician-II, Gudur of the Mechanical Department and Y. Venu Gopal, Points Man, Krishna Canal Junction, Engineering Department, Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.

Subrahmanyam noticed the secondary vertical damper bottom mounting bracket broken and hanging in a coach of Train No. 13352 on April 16, 2024. The vertical damper hanging was removed immediately. The train then proceeded to Vijayawada with speed restriction.

Venu Gopal noticed smoke coming out from a wagon of coal-loaded goods train on April 5, 2024. He immediately alerted the fire brigade who put off the fire. The timely action saved a major mishap.

Vijayawada divisional railway manager Narendra A. Patil congratulated the staff for their alertness and prompt action.
