Visakhapatnam: Two senior officers, posted at the Visakhapatnam Central Jail, were suspended following complaints that they failed to put a check on illegal activities inside the prison.
Jail superintendent S. Kishore Kumar and additional executive officer M. Venkateshwarlu were suspended for their failure to check illegal activities inside the jail.
Both the officers — Kishore Kumar and Venkateshwarlu — had been transferred to Anantapur and Nellore Central Jail respectively. But both have been told not to leave the headquarters until the completion of the probe.
The decision to suspend the two officers was taken after the receipt of several complaints regarding the mismanagement inside the jail.
The preliminary inquiry revealed that both the officers were callous in enforcing the shift duty for security guards.
