Kakinada: Massive Varalakshmi Vratams were performed on the last Friday of the auspicious Telugu month of Sravana Masa.
Jana Sena leader K. Nagababu and his wife Padmaja, on behalf of Pithapuram MLA and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, distributed saris, turmeric, and kumkum to women devotees to perform Varalakshmi Vratam poojas at the Goddess Puruhoothika temple, one of the Shakthi Peetams. MLC P. Hari Prasad and others were also present. Hundreds of women devotees queued from the early hours at the temple, where poojas were conducted in three batches.
At the Bala Tripura Sundari Devi temple in Kakinada, many women devotees participated in Varalakshmi Vratam poojas. Kakinada MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu) and others took part in the event. Despite the rainy weather, women devotees flocked to the Goddess temples in the erstwhile East and West Godavari Districts with great devotion. Bala Tripura Sundari Devi in Kakinada was adorned with a golden sari.
