Vigilance probe against corrupt on written complaints: R&B minister

KURNOOL: Roads and buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy on Sunday made it clear that the Vigilance department will probe allegations of corruption against the previous YSRC government once written complaints are submitted.

Speaking at a meeting of local leaders and officials in Banaganapalli, the minister highlighted instances of corruption that allegedly occurred even in villages under the previous regime.

He claimed that the erstwhile YSRC government had undermined various systems. He pointed out that beneficiaries in Jagananna housing colonies had been reluctant to build houses despite significant funding for the scheme due to the unsuitable location of the colonies.

Janardhan Reddy accused the previous government of weakening the panchayat raj system, leaving sarpanches with only nominal powers and no funds. He alleged that revenue records had been tampered with.

Referring to officials, the minister said while public representatives come and go, officials are permanent. They should work with accountability to the people, without yielding to external pressures.

Janardhan Reddy said unintentional mistakes of officials might be forgiven. But deliberate ones will not be tolerated.
