Vijayawada Celebrates New Year Bash with Pomp and Joy
Vijayawada: Vijayawada welcomed the New Year with grand celebrations as people across the state indulged in joyous revelry.
In Vijayawada, festivities were centred around Punnami Ghat and star hotels such as Novotel and Hyatt, among others. With state government approval for DJs, organisers and hoteliers brought in popular personalities, including actress Mumaith Khan, music composer Mani Sharma, playback singer Madhu Priya, anchor Udaya Bhanu, singer Bezawada Bebakka, and Vicky Yaz.
The celebrations featured live music, songs from top films, and cultural programmes. Entry fees for some hotels ranged from Rs 3,000 per person, with a table for 10 costing Rs 30,000, inclusive of a lavish dinner.
The government also extended liquor sale timings, allowing shops to operate until midnight and bars until 1 AM, which was welcomed by revellers.
While partygoers exchanged greetings and enjoyed the night, Christians attended mass prayers in churches to seek blessings for the year ahead. Large pandals were set up to accommodate worshippers participating in the special prayers.
