Vijayawada is All Set for Dasara Festivities
Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner H. M. Dhyanachandra has informed that all the necessary arrangements were made for the Dasara Sarannavaratri festivities at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri, scheduled to take place from October 3 to 12 are being finalised.
The commissioner held a review meeting with officials from different departments on Thursday and discussed the preparations for the Dasara festival. During the meeting, Dhyanachandra stated that the VMC was making arrangements to ensure that the public faces no inconvenience during the festival. The arrangements include arrangement for drinking water facilities, setting up of cloakrooms, sanitation management, temporary toilets and doing patchwork on roads leading to the temple, he said.
"About 35 lakhs of drinking water bottles and packets would be distributed to the devotees. Six cloakrooms, a 24x7 control room and 150 temporary toilets are being set up. A three-shift sanitation management team with 1,400 sanitation workers would be stationed in 27 areas and patchwork would be done on the path for circumambulation (Giri Pradakshina). As in previous years, conveyor belts for Bhavani devotees' red cloth and 18 tractors would also be arranged," he explained.
