The NTR district police commissionerate in Vijayawada intensified its efforts to curb drunk driving with a special operation on Wednesday. The IInd, IVth, and Vth traffic police units joined forces and apprehended a total of 59 individuals for driving under the influence.
All the arrested individuals were brought before the Sixth Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge, Justice J. Lenin Babu.
The court imposed fines on the offenders, with 12 receiving a `15,000 penalty each and the remaining 47 facing a `10,000 fine each.
NTR district police commissioner P.H.D. Rama Krishna emphasised the department's commitment to tackling drunk driving. He announced that special drives would continue to deter such dangerous behaviour. Commissioner Krishna urged drivers to prioritise traffic safety and abstain from driving under the influence of alcohol.
