Village secretary flees with ₹2.5 lakh pension amount

Lankala Koderu village secretary Balavath Ram of Palakollu mandal in West Godavari district fled from the village with ₹2.50 lakh meant to be distributed to people under the social pension scheme.

According to Palakollu Rural police, the secretary withdrew the amount from the bank on Saturday to distribute it on July 1. But, he did not turn up at the village to distribute pensions.
Following this, water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu himself paid the amount meant for distribution to 38 beneficiaries, as he did not want the beneficiaries to be deprived of the pensions.
Ramanaidu asked officials to stop the “login” of the accused secretary and take action against him.
Palakollu Rural Police have registered a case.
