VISHAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam commissionerate police on Friday captured interstate criminal Sanjay Ghorai in West Bengal. Sanjay was running a widespread racket to extort money from ATM users in five states.
DCP Venkataratnam said Sanjay had defrauded customers at ATMs in Andhra, Telangana, Odisha and West Bengal. The police successfully apprehended him and duly recovered the confiscated funds from his possession.
Sanjay's fraudulent activities in Visakhapatnam alone spanned 29 locations resulting in a substantial loss of Rs 6.30 lakh. However, the police managed to recover Rs 1.30 lakh of the stolen amount. Moreover, the authorities seized approximately 50 debit and credit cards from the accused.
