Vision 2047 to Change Tirumala Into Model Pilgrimage Centre
Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has unveiled the ambitious “Vision 2047 Mission” to make Tirumala into a model pilgrimage centre, blending traditional values with modern infrastructure.
Inspired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s “Swarna Andhra Vision 2047”, the initiative seeks to address current and future requirements through sustainable development, heritage conservation, and advanced technology while preserving Tirumala’s spiritual significance.
Addressing the media at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala on Sunday, TTD executive officer J. Syamala Rao highlighted the inadequacy of the 2019 Tirumala Zonal Planning, based on 2017 data, emphasising the need for a revised strategy. “A comprehensive plan is underway to address current and future needs with 18 concept projects forming the core of the transformation. Reputed agencies have been invited to contribute to this vision”, he stated.
A key feature of the blueprint will be smart parking systems to alleviate congestion during peak seasons. Another key aspect of the plan is a construction of new link roads and subways, which will ease traffic flow and improve safety.
The redevelopment of the Rambagicha and Balaji bus stands is also part of this vision. These critical transit points will be upgraded with modern facilities to accommodate the growing number of visitors.
TTD also plans to establish a base camp at Alipiri, making it a state-of-the-art service hub. The two pedestrian paths, Alipiri and Srivari Mettu will also undergo significant upgrades to make the trekking safer and more comfortable for devotees.
The EO stated that the organisation was formulating urban design guidelines to ensure that new constructions align with Tirumala’s sacred character. “For example, donor rest houses will be named after divine entities to reinforce the town’s spiritual ambience”, he explained.
Additionally, the TTD is embracing technology to enhance pilgrim services, with plans to introduce AI-powered chatbots for accommodation and darshan assistance, as well as automated systems to manage bookings transparently and efficiently.
Syamala Rao detailed recent achievements, including improvements in Laddu Prasadam quality, streamlined Annaprasadam distribution, efficient queue management, and the introduction of donation kiosks. Efforts to curb encroachments, regulate food prices, and improve sanitation are ongoing.
“With 10 per cent of the projects already underway, the journey is long. Our ultimate aim is to create a sustainable, inclusive, and spiritually enriching experience for all pilgrims while preserving Tirumala’s legacy for future generations” he said.
TTD officials, including additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, JEO M. Gouthami, CVSO S. Sreedhar, and CE Satyanarayana, were present.
