Vizag Has Adequate Fuel Stocks, Say Officials

They urged citizens to avoid panic buying, warning that unnecessary hoarding could strain the distribution system

Visakhapatnam: Joint collector Gobbila Vidyadhari on Sunday assured residents that fuel supplies in Visakhapatnam district remained stable amid concerns over a possible shortage of petrol and diesel.

According to the latest stock summary, all three major oil marketing companies — Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation — reported sufficient stocks of motor spirit (petrol) and high-speed diesel.
The district currently has 120 petrol outlets and 118 diesel outlets in operation. Opening stock stood at 1,655 kl of petrol and 1,680 kl of diesel. Fresh receipts added 823 kl of petrol and 1,121 kl of diesel, taking total availability to 2,478 kl of petrol and 2,801 kl of diesel.
Among the companies, Hindustan Petroleum reported 1,082 kl of petrol and 958 kl of diesel across 82 outlets. Bharat Petroleum recorded 788 kl of petrol and 1,157 kl of diesel, while Indian Oil reported 608 kl of petrol and 686 kl of diesel.
Daily sales stood at 584 kl of petrol and 792 kl of diesel, reflecting normal consumption. After meeting demand, closing stock remained strong at 1,894 kl of petrol and 2,009 kl of diesel.
Meanwhile, the Anakapalle district civil supplies administration also confirmed that fuel supplies remained stable. A review meeting with oil company officials found no shortage of petrol or diesel.
Officials said a few outlets had faced temporary disruptions, but directions had been issued to restore supplies immediately, with priority to agriculture, aquaculture and harvesting operations.
To ease public concerns, daily press briefings will be held. Authorities also warned of strict action against black marketing and illegal diversion of fuel. Revenue and police teams have been deployed to monitor outlets, while a control room has been set up to receive complaints.
