Vizag Photographer to Document 1 Million Women Across 195 Nations
VISHAKHAPATNAM: A renowned photographer, Bharadwaj Dayala, will embark on a global initiative to photograph one million women across all 195 countries on International Women's Day 2025 to visually archive celebrating women's achievements and diversity.
The "Million Amazing Women Project" was announced by the photographer on Friday. This project will document women from all walks of life, ranging from grassroots community leaders to influential changemakers worldwide. Speaking to the Deccan Chronicle, Dayala emphasised, "This isn't just about taking pictures. It's about preserving stories of courage, resilience, and triumph for future generations."
Dayala, who previously made history as the first Indian to complete a solo motorcycle journey around the world, covering five continents and 47,000 kilometres across 16 countries, will begin this monumental undertaking from his hometown of Visakhapatnam.
The project goes beyond mere documentation, featuring a comprehensive recognition programme with weekly, monthly, and annual awards to highlight exceptional women making significant impacts in their communities. Each portrait will be accompanied by the subject's personal narrative and showcased on the project's website and social media platforms, giving visibility to previously unsung heroes.
A key component of the initiative involves connecting participants with international sponsors and non-profit organisations, creating a support network to help women-led initiatives scale their impact. He further added the project, scheduled to continue through International Women's Day 2025, aims to create a comprehensive tapestry of female experience and achievement in the 21st century, serving as an inspiration for future generations.
