Vizag Range DIG Wants Anti-Marijuana Campaign Intensified
The DIG instructed police officers to execute pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against absconding suspects and expedite filing of charge sheets in existing cases.

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam range police deputy inspector general (DIG) Gopinath Jatti has directed police officials to intensify their efforts against marijuana cultivation, trafficking, and consumption across the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam Parvatipuram, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Anakapalli.
Addressing a video conference with superintendents of police (SPs) and other officers coming within the Visakhapatnam range, the DIG underlined, “We must identify and swiftly confiscate assets belonging to individuals profiting from marijuana trafficking.”
The drive against the traffickers is part of the “Sankalpam” programme, which focuses on enforcement, rehabilitation and preventive measures to combat the growing marijuana problem in the region.
Gopinath ordered immediate detention of accused in marijuana cases and an action plan to provide counselling to marijuana users. Incidentally, 296 individuals are receiving treatment at various de-addiction centres in the Visakhapatnam range.
The DIG instructed police officers to execute pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against absconding suspects and expedite filing of charge sheets in existing cases.
The meeting addressed additional concerns, including women and children’s safety, promotion of the Shakti App, deployment of Shakti teams, expansion of self-defence training programmes, and utilisation of modern technologies, including CCTVs and drones, in dealing with crimes.
