Visakhapatnam:The Vizianagaram district police have arrested a man named Elaka Ganesh (25) from Peripi village of Cheepurupalli mandal. The accused was involved in stealing transformers from various areas, including Nellimarla, Poosapatirega, Denkada, Andra, and Bobbili. The accused have committed crimes in 10 cases across six police stations.
District SP Vakul Jindal said the police recovered copper and aluminum ingots worth Rs 1.50 lakh during a media conference held at the district police office on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off received by the CCS police, a special team was formed under CCS CI A. Satyanarayana and Bhogapuram CI G. Ramakrishna. During a vehicle check near Mims Hospital, the accused was spotted in an autorickshaw coming from Gurla junction towards Vizianagaram and was apprehended by the police.
During interrogation, Ganesh confessed that he and his relatives Sariki Durga Rao, Sariki Suresh, and Mungina Ajith Kumar were involved in stealing transformers. Jindal said that the rest of the copper and aluminum ingots have also been recovered by the Nellimarla police.
