VMC calls for coordination with event venues to address traffic issues
Vijayawada: In a bid to ensure smoother traffic flow during peak hours and address the rising vehicular congestion in Vijayawada, NTR District Commissioner of Police (CP) SV Raja Sekhara Babu has instructed private convention hall and banquet hall owners to notify the police department about upcoming events such as weddings, birthday parties, and other private gatherings. This collaboration aims to help the police regulate traffic more efficiently.
Raja Sekhara Babu chaired a coordination meeting with the management of convention halls, banquet halls, and function venues at the Police Command Control Room on Saturday.
During the meeting, Raja Sekhara Babu emphasised that traffic management during peak hours is crucial, as large numbers of people travel to attend events at the city’s private venues. He stated that sharing event details in advance will allow the police to manage traffic more effectively. He also instructed function hall owners to upload event information to a WhatsApp group specifically created for this purpose.
The group, created using the ASTram application, will allow function hall owners to input key details such as the event date, start and end times, expected number of attendees, vehicle numbers, and any VIP or VVIP guests. This data will assist the police in planning and managing traffic to prevent congestion on city roads.
DCP (Law and Order) Gautami Shali, DCP (Traffic) Krishnamurthy Naidu, ADCP (Traffic) AVL Prasanna Kumar, and other officials were present at the meeting.
