Tirupati: TTD Asks Tirumala Devotees to Avoid Water Wastage

Tirumala: The water levels in the five major dams at Tirumala have been assessed to meet the needs of locals and pilgrims for the next 120-130 days due to meager rainfall so far. Currently, nearly 43 lakh gallons of water are consumed daily in Tirumala, with 18 lakh gallons sourced from the local dams and the rest from Kalyani Dam in Tirupati.

The total storage capacity of the Gogarbham, Akasa Ganga, Papa Vinasanam, Kumaradhara, and Pasupudhara dams in Tirumala is 14,304 lakh gallons, but only 5,800 lakh gallons are available at present.

With the upcoming annual Brahmotsavams from October 4 to 12, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has urged devotees and locals to conserve water and avoid wastage. The TTD is also considering measures to regulate water consumption if the situation does not improve in the coming months.
