Visakhapatnam: A well-marked low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, near the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu coasts, is expected to weaken within the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) latest update. IMD Amaravati has forecast rainfall of varying intensities across different districts over the next week.
In North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, and Vizianagaram districts are likely to witness isolated heavy rainfall, with diminishing intensity in the coming days. Meanwhile, the South Coastal region, particularly SPSR Nellore, is on alert for isolated heavy rainfall on December 26. Other districts, including Krishna, Guntur, and Prakasam, are expected to remain largely dry.
Recent meteorological data shows Kalingapatnam recording the highest rainfall at 3.0 mm over the past 24 hours, followed by Ongole at 1.0 mm. Amaravati and Kavali registered 0.3 mm each. Temperature variations were notable, with Kalingapatnam at 22.0°C, Visakhapatnam at 23.7°C, Kadapa at 24.4°C, Tirupati at 25.2°C, and Kakinada at 26.2°C.
The IMD continues to monitor the system closely and has advised caution in areas likely to experience heavy rainfall.
