Women protest against liquor shop in Kodandaramapuram

The protesters have urged officials to take immediate action and relocate the shop to a more suitable location away from residential areas

Tirupati: The women of Kodandaramapuram village in Jaladanki mandal of Nellore district staged a protest on Wednesday against the establishment of a liquor shop in their locality. Expressing strong opposition, the villagers blocked the road, demanding that the shop should not be set up near their village.

Since the proposed location is along a busy main road with heavy daily traffic, the protesters argued that the presence of a liquor shop would create disturbances and pose safety concerns. Women and other villagers participated in the demonstration, urging the authorities to reconsider the decision.

Lakshmi, a resident of the village, said, “We are worried about the safety of our children and women. A liquor shop here will only lead to more problems, including an increase in unruly behaviour.”

Another villager, Anasuya, voiced her concerns, saying, “We have seen how liquor shops affect families, leading to financial and social troubles. We do not want such an establishment in our village.”

The protesters have urged officials to take immediate action and relocate the shop to a more suitable location away from residential areas.
