Work for Comprehensive Growth of PVTGs: Vizag Collector

Visakhapatnam: District collector A. Shyam Prasad has instructed officials to provide essential services such as drinking water, education, healthcare and housing to the Primitive Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and called for comprehensive development initiatives.

During a review meeting held on the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) programme on Tuesday, he emphasised the necessity for significant improvements in human development indicators among the PVTG communities. He further highlighted the importance of enhancing living standards while respecting and preserving the cultural traditions of the PVTGs. He mandated that necessary measures be taken to achieve these goals, advocating for planning at the family unit level.

Additionally, he stressed that PM-JANMAN programme should be utilised for preparing developmental projects in tribal areas. He directed engineers to prepare detailed proposals for road construction in tribal habitations lacking connectivity and requested comprehensive information about each habitation.

He tasked the ITDA officials with drafting proposals for providing hostel accommodations in tribal regions, with a deadline of one week for submission. The collector also set a completion target of December for the seven multi-purpose community buildings under construction in Seethampeta and instructed that mobile connectivity towers shall be erected within a month.

District panchayat raj engineering officer M. V. R. Krishnaji reported that 19 roads, totaling 38.65 kilometers, have been sanctioned to improve connectivity to 43 habitations, and administrative sanctions were still pending.
