World Bank team praises ‘transformative’ educational efforts in AP schools

VIJAYAWADA: A World Bank delegation led by Samagra Shiksha state project director B. Srinivas Rao, visited the Sri Anne Seetharamaiah Zilla Parishad High School (PM SHRI) in Atkuru village in Unguturu mandal and the Model Foundation School in Davajigudem, Krishna district, on Tuesday.

The delegation reviewed educational policies, learning methodologies, creativity and educational standards in the schools, along with the functioning of the school management committees. The members interacted with the students, observed the classroom environment and enquired about the teaching methods.

“World Bank representatives praised the efforts of the education department in enhancing educational quality,” an official release here said.

Later, the team visited the Model Foundation School in Davajigudem, Gannavaram mandal where Samagra Shiksha SPD Srinivas Rao interacted with students. The students provided impressive answers during the discussion, which revolved around the names of vegetables, food habits and their thoughts on education.

The delegation included task team leader Cristelle Kouame, South Asia representative Keiko Inoue, lead social protection specialist Junko Onishi, human development program leader, India, lead economist DHC Aturupane, senior education specialist Karthik Pentel, Tracy Wilichowski, senior environmental specialist Deepa Balakrishnan, senior financial management specialist Tanuj Mathur and consultant Priyanka Sahu.
