YSRC Blames NDA for Poor Response to Escintia Pharma Blast

Visakhapatnam: Senior YSRC leader and leader of opposition (LoP) in the legislative council Botsa Satyanarayana on Thursday blamed the NDA alliance for its poor response to the Escintia Pharma blast that killed 17 workers and injured 36 people.

Botsa Satyanarayana along with former ministers Gudivada Amarnath and Budi Mutyala Naidu visited King George Hospital on Thursday to console the families of the victims.

"This is one of the worst industrial disasters in the state but the response from the state government is meek and negligent. Even 24 hours after the incident no compensation was given to the families of victims,’" he told reporters.

He said Visakhapatnam collector came to the mortuary and announced the compensation but he did not disclose further details. He also blamed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for not consoling the families of the dead.

He said in LG Polymers incident in which 12 workers died, the YSRC government had given a compensation of Rs 1 crore to each of the families within 24 hours.

"The government should give Rs 1 crore immediately and provide jobs to one member of the family,’’ Botsa demanded. The families are demanding justice and they have no faith in the government, he added.

He demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the incident and action against those responsible for the accident. Botsa announced that YSRC president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would arrive in Visakhapatnam on Friday to console the victims’ families.
