YSRC is natural choice of opposition party in assembly, asserts Botsa

YSRC has reiterated its demand that it be recognised as the opposition party in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Vijayawada: YSRC has reiterated its demand that it be recognised as the opposition party in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

“YSR Congress is the only opposition party in the AP assembly. Other parties whose MLAs have been elected are all part of the ruling NDA-alliance government,” YSRC Legislative Council leader Botsa Satyanarayana pointed out while speaking to media outside the assembly on Monday.
He pointed out that there are many people’s issues that need to be highlighted in the assembly. “Coalition parties are part of the treasury benches. YSRC is the only party which can raise the people’s problems,” Satyanarayana underlined.
He maintained that no one had been bothered about the problems that chilli farmers are currently facing until YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the Guntur Mirchi Yard to highlight the issue.
Only after Jagan’s visit, the coalition government responded with a knee jerk reaction. Yet nothing significant has happened. “The coalition government is saying it is speaking with the centre on the issue. But what is the outcome? A positive outcome will be there only if the opposition party persistently questions the government,” Satyanarayana said.
He demanded that the NDA alliance government immediately intervene as prices of chilli have slumped in the market, putting farmers in distress.
The opposition leader in council said only half of the Super Six promises of the NDA coalition have been fulfilled. “The government has to be questioned. Who else will do it if not the opposition party,” he asked.
Satyanarayana accused the NDA coalition of not following the democratic dharma of giving the rightful status of the opposition party to YSRC.
Those present included former minister Peddireddy Ramachandara Reddy.
