YSRC Leaders Condemn Renaming Barrages in Nellore

Tirupati: Former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy has condemned the NDA government's decision to rename the Sangam Barrage and Nellore Barrage, which were previously named after late leaders Nallapureddy Srinivasulu Reddy and Mekapati Goutham Reddy. The recent renaming, removing YSR Congress-affiliated names, has been criticised as an affront to the memory of these leaders.

At a press conference in Nellore, Rajamohan Reddy described the renaming as a disgraceful attempt to erase the legacy of respected leaders. He accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of undermining their contributions and claimed that the decision was politically motivated and unjustifiable.

Former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy joined the criticism, accusing Naidu of focusing on political maneuvers rather than addressing the needs of flood victims. He emphasised that the barrages, crucial projects initiated by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and completed by the YSRC government under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, should retain their original names.

YSRC District President and MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, former MLA Mekapati Vikram Reddy, ZP Chairperson A. Arunamma, and Vijaya Dairy Chairman K. Rangareddy also attended the press conference.
