YSRC MLC booked for selling TTD Seva recommendation letters

Vijayawada: Arundelpet police of Guntur district have filed a case against MLC K.R.J. Bharat and his personal assistant Mallikarjuna Rao on charges of selling recommendation letters for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Thomala Seva.

It is alleged the MLC and his PA collected ₹3 lakh from residents of Guntur in exchange of the recommendation letters.

Police have filed a case under sections 420 and 406 of the IPC against Bharat and Mallikarjuna Rao after TD leader Chitti Babu filed a complaint in this regard.

The YSRC MLC has, however, refuted the charges brought against him by Chitti Babu.

In a video statement issued on Tuesday, Bharat said, “Just because I contested and politically fought against Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam constituency, TD leaders are trying to defame me, making baseless allegations and foisting false cases against me.”

Stating that there is no need for him to sell darshan tickets, Bharat maintained, “I come from a bureaucratic family. My father was an IAS officer. I grew up with values and always practiced good morals.”

He said he is in no way connected with Mallikarjuna Rao. He has not worked with any PRO by that name. He said he is verifying the names of complainants.

The MLC requested the police department to probe the case in a fair and transparent manner.
