YSRC MP Accuses TD Leaders of Diversionary Tactics

Tirupati: YSRC Rajampet MP P.V. Mithun Reddy has levelled harsh criticism against the ruling Telugu Desam (TD) leaders, accusing them of neglecting public issues, failing to deliver on election promises, and engaging in diversionary politics.

Punganur municipal chairman Aleem Basha, along with several councillors who had recently defected from the YSRC, rejoined the party on Monday.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Mithun Reddy expressed his dismay over the misinformation campaign launched against his family regarding the Madanapalle sub-collector office fire incident.

Questioning the government’s haste in dispatching the Director General of Police via helicopter to investigate the incident, Reddy alleged that this was a deliberate attempt to politicise the issue and implicate the Peddireddy family. “Despite all relevant files being readily available online, the DGP was flown to Madanapalle by helicopter. Why wasn’t a helicopter deployed for flood relief operations?” he questioned, highlighting the perceived misuse of resources for political gain rather than addressing urgent public needs.

Mithun Reddy further accused the ruling party of resorting to intimidation tactics to coerce YSRC leaders into switching parties. “They are threatening to file cases against anyone who refuses to defect. The Punganur municipal chairman and councillors were intimidated and forced to leave the YSRC. However, they realised their mistake and rejoined the party today,” he said.

Municipal chairman Aleem Basha explained that he had resigned earlier due to personal reasons but had now decided to return to the YSRC. He reaffirmed his continued support for the Peddireddy family, emphasising their long-standing association. “We have always stood by the Peddireddy family and will continue to do so,” Basha said, reaffirming his loyalty to the YSRC.
