Visakhapatnam: MLC Varudu Kalyani, the state president of YSRC women’s wing, has urged the current government to fulfil its promises to women promptly. Addressing a press conference in Visakhapatnam, she highlighted the government's pledges to provide a monthly stipend of `1,500, free bus travel, and three free gas cylinders per year to women aged 18-60.
Kalyani questioned the delay in implementing these schemes, noting that only the pension scheme had been launched on July 1, despite promises to initiate several schemes from that date. She criticised the lack of progress since the new government took office a month ago, expressing concern that this delay was causing widespread worry among women across the state.
Recalling the 2014 TD government’s failure to deliver on commitments such as the DWCRA loan waiver and zero interest loans, Kalyani urged the current administration to avoid repeating these mistakes. She emphasised the need for tangible steps to implement the promised schemes.
Kalyani also pointed out that if the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government had continued, the promised benefits would have already been reaching women. She cited previous successful schemes under Jagan Mohan Reddy's leadership, such as Amma Vodi and Cheyuta, which provided substantial support to women and students.
Additionally, Kalyani called for the implementation of the promised three free gas cylinders per year and free bus travel for women, noting that no preparatory action or guidelines had been issued. She also mentioned the unmet promise of `15,000 per school-going child, expressing concern over the financial burden on parents as the new academic year began.
