YSRC Refutes Allegations of Assigned Lands Grab

Vijayawada: Social Welfare Minister Meruga Nagarjuna has refuted allegations of illegalities and grabbing of assigned lands in Visakhapatnam and North Andhra.

The present government provided full rights on assigned lands and did not snatch those lands, he told the media here on Thursday.

The minister recalled the Amaravati lands scam and said several TD leaders were involved in the illegal grab of assigned lands in the Amaravati region. “TD leaders grabbed assigned lands of Dalits in Amaravati for throwaway prices. This showed the anti-Dalit and anti-assigned land attitude of the TD and its leaders, he said.

Nagarjuna said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy brought a law to register the rights of the Dalits on their lands and hence they were given rights on the lands that existed before 2003 in a transparent manner.

“Chandrababu Naidu grabbed Dalit lands in Amaravati for a paltry `5 lakh per acre. He and his party leaders made crores of rupees thus. Naidu’s close aide grabbed Dalit lands. The Ramoji Film City was built on Dalit lands that were grabbed with the help of Chandrababu,” he said.

The minister said Jagan Mohan Reddy treated the poor and weaker sections as “Na SC, Na ST, Na BC, Na Minority,” assuming them as being part of his community.
