YSRC Traces on Land Survey Stones to be Erased

Tirupati: The district administration in Tirupati has invited tenders to erase the name and logo of the YSRC government on land survey stones across the resurveyed villages in the district. Officials said the state government run by the TD-led alliance recently decided to do this.

Joint Collector Subham Banswal released the tender notice on Wednesday. In a statement, Banswal said the name and logo etched on 3,98,872 survey stones installed during the previous government’s tenure would be removed.

A maximum of Rs.15 per stone would be offered for this work. Interested contractors may apply from Nov 14 and the deadline is 5pm, Nov 18. Applications must be submitted at the District Survey and Land Records Department in Tirupati, he said.

Notably, while as chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had his name engraved on land survey stones while his photograph was printed on private landowners’ pattadar passbooks.

During the YSRC tenure, approximately 70 lakh marker stones were installed. Another 7 lakh stones were left unused; all these bearing Jagan Reddy’s name. The present government of Nara Chandrababu Naidu decided to erase the name from these stones.

The government would also replace the pattadar passbooks issued under the YSRC administration as these carried Jagan Reddy’s photo. In its place, the revenue department has designed a new specimen for the pattadar passbooks.

The new passbooks will feature “Land Ownership Right Document and Pattadar Passbook” at the top of the cover page, along with the Andhra Pradesh government’s logo at the centre of the page.

Before the assembly polls, Chandrababu Naidu had pledged to erase Jagan Reddy’s name from the survey stones, replace the pattadar passbooks and repeal the Andhra Pradesh Land Titling Act introduced by the YSRC government.
