YSRC urges quick health measures

Vijayawada: The opposition YSRC has urged the AP Government to implement a programme similar to Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha on a war footing to address the ongoing public health crisis caused by incessant rains and floods in the state. In a letter addressed to the AP Government, YSRC NTR district doctors’ cell chairman Dr Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav demanded the state government deploy mobile medical teams to flood-hit areas equipped with essential medicines, vaccines and medical equipment. He suggested the government set up temporary health camps to provide medical care, first aid, and emergency services; activate telemedicine facilities to connect patients with specialist doctors for remote consultations; and deploy vector control teams to conduct fogging, larviciding, and other measures to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases.

He also emphasized the need to ensure an adequate supply of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities to prevent waterborne diseases. Furthermore, he urged the government to activate the state emergency response center to coordinate relief efforts, deploy district medical officers, paramedics, and volunteers to affected areas, and utilise existing healthcare infrastructure including PHCs, CHCs, and hospitals. Radhakrishna Yadav also suggested the government establish a monitoring cell to track disease outbreaks, medical interventions, and relief efforts and to conduct regular review meetings with district officials, medical teams, and stakeholders.
