Vijayawada: A YSRC delegation met State Election Commissioner Neelam Sawhney, urging measures for free and fair elections in Andhra Pradesh’s municipal polls. Former ministers Ambati Rambabu and Velampalli Srinivas, along with MLCs Lella Appi Reddy and Md Ruhulla, ex-MLA Malladi Vishnu, and other leaders, alleged that Telugu Desam was resorting to intimidation, illegal demolitions, and coercion against YSRC candidates. Rambabu condemned the demolition of a YSRC-backed deputy mayor candidate’s house in Tirupati, calling it an attempt to instil fear. Velampalli criticised TD for using unethical tactics, while Appi Reddy demanded neutral officials for election oversight. Vishnu accused TD of manipulating local body elections, urging immediate action.YSRC leaders submitted a complaint to the SEC, highlighting alleged irregularities and requesting police protection for their candidates.
