YSRC warns EC of TD’s plans to disrupt vote counting

Vijayawada: YSRC on Saturday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that the Telugu Desam Party leadership is conspiring to instigate violence inside and outside the counting centres on June 4, when the votes polled in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections are to be counted.
A delegation of YSRC leaders, including Malladi Vishnu, Ravela Kishore Babu and Naga Narayana Murthy, called on deputy chief electoral officer (CEO) Visweswara Rao and submitted a written representation. They alleged that TD chief Naidu and the party’s senior leaders have directed their counting agents to create disturbance within the counting centres and outside on the day of counting on June 4.
They referred to the large-scale violence in several assembly constituencies, where the TD contestants have strong sympathisers, like in Macherla, Narasaraopet, Tadipatri and Chittoor.
The YSRC leaders alleged that in these constituencies, Naidu is planning to organise attacks against YSRC counting agents with the help of police officers posted at the counting centres.
They requested the EC to take appropriate action by directing the concerned authorities to register a case against Naidu and other leaders.
The delegation sought withdrawal of the case booked against party general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, claiming that it is a false case.
