Andhra University Improves NIRF Rating
Visakhapatnam: Andhra University (AU) has secured the seventh position in the 'newly established state universities' category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2024.
The ranking, released by the Union ministry of education on Monday, marks AU's first entry into this category and showcases a significant leap from its previous overall rank of 76 last year, now standing at 41st nationally.
Vice-chancellor Prof. G. Sasibhushana Rao expressed gratitude to state HRD minister Nara Lokesh for his leadership. He emphasised AU's commitment to enhancing research and academic excellence.
Rao stated that the university aims to break into the top 10 overall national rankings in the coming year.
In addition to its overall ranking, AU has made progress in various specific disciplines. It is now 25th in the university category, up from 43rd, and has improved its position in the engineering category to 90th from 94th. The pharmacy department ranked 34th, while the Law College achieved an impressive 16th position.
Among other regional institutions, Acharya Nagarjuna University stood at 97th spot overall and Osmania University at 70th.
