AP: Single GST Number for Entire Country Sought

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) wrote to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman making suggestions on improving the ease of doing business (EoDB) in GST and IT.

AP Chambers president Potluri Bhaskara Rao mentioned, “The GST is now payable on the 20th of the following month for all invoices raised in the current month. However due to delayed payments from the state governments or PSUs, business establishments are compelled to pay GST from their own funds whenever it is due. This has been causing a lot of financial stress to MSMEs. Hence, we request the Union government to make GST payable only on receipt of payment, especially when state governments or central PSUs are involved.”

The AP Chambers further stated, “We request the Union government to help with only one GST number for the entire country (one nation, one tax) instead of one for every state, which is greatly hampering EoDB. We request that a provision be made for this. The assessment of GST should be at a single location instead of multiple statewide assessments.”
