Warangal: The beneficiaries of the double bedroom housing scheme (2BHK) on Monday organised a road blockade, demanding the state government to distribute the houses in Bhupalpally, which is the headquarters of Jayashankar Bhapalpally district.
They alleged that the previous BRS government had constructed around 430 2BHK houses at Bhaskargadda and completed the selection of the beneficiaries under the supervision of the district collector.
However, in view of the Assembly elections, the process of the distribution of the 2BJK houses was stopped. Even after more than eight months, they said officials are not taking any initiative to distribute the houses to the beneficiaries.
The road blockade, which was backed by Bhupalpally municipal chairperson Seggam Venkat Rani, Vice chairman Harish Reddy and some of the councillors, resulted in a huge traffic jam.
Though the police officials tried to convince the beneficiaries, the protestors did not relent which led to the arrest of some beneficiaries and their leaders.
