BMTC driver dies of heart attack, conductor saves passengers
A tragic incident occurred in Bengaluru on Wednesday when 40-year-old Kiran Kumar, a driver with the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), suffered a fatal heart attack while operating bus route 256 M/1 from Nelamangala to Dasanapura. Despite feeling some discomfort, Kumar continued driving until he suddenly collapsed, causing the bus to veer off course.
The quick-thinking conductor, Obalesh, took immediate action, safely bringing the bus to a stop and preventing any further danger. He then rushed Kumar to VP Magnus Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident unfolded around 11 am during one of the bus's daily trips. CCTV footage from the bus shows Kumar collapsing at the wheel, causing the bus to lightly brush against a stationary BMTC bus.
Thanks to the conductor’s prompt intervention, a major tragedy was averted. Obalesh managed to halt the bus and ensured the safety of the passengers. After the bus was stopped, he rushed his colleague to the hospital, but Kumar was declared dead on arrival.
BMTC has announced financial assistance to Kumar's family to support them during this difficult time as they prepare for his final rites.
