Chutneys Outlet Slapped Rs.5,000 Fine for Hair Strand Found in Chutney
Hyderabad: A family dinner turned into an unsavoury experience for Umesh Kumar, an activist, when he found an inch-long strand of hair in his food at Chutneys restaurant in AS Rao Nagar Tuesday night.
“I ordered dosa and idli and found a small hair in the chutney that was served. I called the manager and he acknowledged it. He got it replaced immediately. However, my day was ruined,” said Umesh.
He tried to get in touch with the food safety officer G. S. Kavya but to no avail. Finally, his concerns were heard by the assistant medical officer of health, GHMC Kapra Circle, N. Venkata Ramana, who asked him to file an official complaint and share the pictures as proof on WhatsApp.
The official visited the restaurant and after inspection, imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 on the popular outlet for a foreign particle (hair) being found in the food that was served by them.
