CLP Hails Singvi’s Nomination for RS
Hyderabad: The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) passed a resolution expressing gratitude for endorsing constitutional expert Abhishek Manu Singhvi, a well-known Supreme Court senior advocate, as the Congress Rajya Sabha candidate from Telangana.
At a CLP meeting held in a hotel here on Sunday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that many constitutional and legal complications had arisen in the implementation of the State Reorganisation Act. The NDA government did not implement the 2014 Act for 10 years, he said.
"There is a need for strong arguments in the legislatures as well as in the Supreme Court on the issues of the redistribution law. We have requested the high command to send constitutional and legal expert Singhvi to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana," Reddy said.
Singhvi vehemently advocates resolution of unresolved issues in legislatures and courts.
Prior to the CLP meeting, Singhvi went to the Chief Minister's residence and met Revanth Reddy and his family members. The Chief Minister felicitated Singhvi on the occasion. He also met irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi would file nomination in the Assembly on Monday at 10 am. The available public representatives will come to the Assembly and participate in the nomination program.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi has expressed his gratitude to the AICC leaders for announcing him as Rajya Sabha candidate from Telangana State.
As a matter of courtesy, I met Congress party MLAs, MLCs, Rajya Sabha members and MPs. I will keep talking about the rights that should come to the state,' Singhvi said.
