Tamil Nadu: BTech student’s superhuman stunt goes awry
A 19-year-old BTech student, who reportedly believed he had superpowers, sustained serious injuries after jumping from the fourth floor of the hostel at Karpagam College of Engineering in Coimbatore on Monday evening. The student, A. Prabhu, is a third-year Artificial Intelligence and Data Science major from Mekkur village near Perundurai in Erode district.
According to police, Prabhu shared with friends his belief that he had superhero-like abilities, including the power to jump from tall buildings safely. He had also expressed concerns about being affected by black magic.
The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. while Prabhu was on the fourth-floor veranda with other students nearby. He unexpectedly leapt from the veranda, landing on the ground and sustaining fractures in his legs and hands, as well as head injuries.
Fellow students immediately transported him to Karpagam Hospital for initial care, and he was later moved to Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore for advanced treatment. He remains under medical care.
