DRI-Hyderabad Arrests Two for Smuggling Gold Worth Rs 2.89 Cr
Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence-Hyderabad (DRI) arrested two persons for transporting 3.98 kg of gold worth `2.89 crore. They were bringing the gold in a bus from Kolkata to the city. The gold was concealed in a cloth waistband worn by the two persons.
Hyderabad: Lorry Overturns on Outer Ring Road
Hyderabad: A lorry carrying tiles overturned at about 3 am on Sunday on the Outer Ring Road, injuring the the driver and the cleaner, Keesara police said. Keesara circle inspector A. Venkataiah told Deccan Chronicle: “Since it was early morning, the driver was sleepy, due to which, he lost control and the lorry overturned.” On receiving information of the accident from other motorists, the police went to the spot and shifted the injured to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. No case has been registered.
Thieves Break into Two Houses in Hyderabad's Jaipur Colony
Hyderabad: Thieves broke into two houses in Golden Leaves Villas of Jaipur Colony and decamped with cash and jewellery, Nagole police said on Sunday. According to sources, a security guard informed the residents of about the theft, who called the Nagole police. Sources said Villa no.s 22 and 89 were robbed. The police have booked a case.
Actress Lavanya Seeks Justice in Cheating Case Against Actor Raj Tarun
Hyderabad: Actress Lavanya, who filed a cheating case against actor Raj Tarun, asked for justice in an address to the media. She alleged that their 11-year-long relationship had been strained due to infidelity and false accusations.
She said she expected the police to investigate her complaint and take appropriate action. She said she had the evidence to back her claims.
Answering a question on her involvement in drugs, she denied any role in the Varalakshmi Tiffins drug case, suggesting that she was implicated because of her acquaintance with Mastan Sai.
Driver Arrested for Raping Minor in Keesara
Hyderabad: Keesara police on Sunday arrested a 25-year-old driver for raping a minor.
According to Keesara circle inspector A. Venkataiah, the driver, Mahesh, a resident of Bahadurpura, would park his vehicle opposite the girl’s residence. Over time the driver got acquainted with the minor and then started raping her, the police said.
The driver knew the minor for about one-and-a-half years and had been raping her for about six months.
On getting to know about this, the minor’s father lodged a complaint with the Keesara police. Consequently, a case was registered under Sections 64 and 65 of the BNS and the Pocso Act and the police arrested Mahesh.
Food Safety Task Force Uncovers Severe Violations in Hanumakonda, Medak, Suryapet
Hyderabad: In inspection drive across Hanumakonda, Medak, and Suryapet on Friday, the food safety task force uncovered severe food safety violations in hotels and issued notices.
In Hanamkonda, Hotel Thousand Pillars was found using synthetic food colour-coated tandoori chicken. A curd bowl with flies, infested suji rava, and foul-smelling stored masala were also found. The hotel lacked basic hygiene, medical certificates for food handlers, and an FSSAI license display.
The conditions were unhygienic with unclean floors and ceilings, and improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items.
In Medak, Priyadarshini Pure Veg Hotel and Sri Raghavendra Veg Restaurant in Kallakal were operating with expired FSSAI licences. Priyadarshini Pure Veg Hotel used synthetic food colours and non-fresh vegetables, with improperly labeled rice bags. Sri Raghavendra Veg Restaurant failed to maintain sanitary kitchen conditions and used prohibited coloured tea powder (with SFC positive content) and tasting salt (monosodium glutamate).
Janatha Family Restaurant in Kallakal was flagged for severe violations, including the use of synthetic food colours, lack of hygiene, and absence of medical certificates for food handlers.
In Suryapet, Sri Thirumala Grand Hotel and Hotel Balaji Grand displayed significant hygiene lapses. Inspectors found open dustbins near cooked food, uncovered food items, rusted water pipelines, and improper storage practices. Hotel Balaji Grand had rotten vegetables, synthetic food colours, and spoiled food. Uncovered food with flies and the storage of cleaning supplies alongside food items were also noted.
