Hyderabad Common Capital: APERC office shifted to Kurnool
Hyderabad: The office of the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has been shifted to Kurnool from Hyderabad just before a week Hyderabad ceases to be the common capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
APERC chairman Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy inaugurated the office in Kurnool on Thursday, indicating that Hyderabad will stop to be the common capital.
The decision to shift the operations of the APERC to Kurnool in the wake of Telangana government's notice to vacate all buildings occupied by the AP government in Hyderabad before June 2, the Formation Day of Separate Telangana.
Over 90 per cent of the offices were shifted in 2016.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had directed the authorities to shift APERC from Hyderabad to Kurnool, which has been designated as the 'judicial capital' of Andhra Pradesh, a year ago.
Jagan also directed the GAD to hand over all buildings to Telangana government and move the offices to Andhra Pradesh.
Some tribunals and judicial offices have already been shifted to Kurnool while the remaining offices were moved to Vijayawada and Guntur.
It may also be recalled that advisor to AP government Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy urged the Centre to allow Hyderabad continue as the common capital for both states even after June 2, 2024.
