Hyderabad: Gullible Couples Taking Fake Tablets to be Blessed with Son
Hyderabad: Preference for a male child has led to the emergence of individuals illegally selling fake medicines and fooling people in the name of ayurvedic treatment. Now, people have started to procure tablets that ‘ensure’ that the woman would give birth to a son.
Priya (name changed) said: “An old lady in Begum Bazaar has given my daughter a box of 40 tablets. After taking them, she will for sure have a son and I will be the happiest mother in the world.”
Priya got acquainted with a man who knows the supplier.
She explained: “The procedure is quite simple but needs to be followed strictly. The mother should wake up around 6 am, wash her hair for 40 days, and take the tablet at exactly 8.05 am in isolation in a room in front of an idol of Lord Krishna. During that time, she should not have any minor or unmarried girl around. She has to take the tablet along with the milk of a cow that has given birth to a bull calf.”
Priya claimed that four women she was familiar with had delivered a baby boy after taking that tablet.
Sources confirmed to Deccan Chronicle that there was a nexus between shops selling such formulations and traders. A source said, “They usually target their relatives or those they are familiar with.”
